Nope. Help-Portrait, at this point, is not a non-profit organization. It is a movement. A shift in thinking about photography. An opportunity to give photos, not just take them.
3. How can I get involved?
Head to the COMMUNITY SITE and sign up. You will probably find other people (photographers, volunteers, etc.) in your town or close to you. If not, be the first in your city and start a new group!
4. I'm not a Photographer. Can I still help?
Absolutely. Just visit the COMMUNITY SITE, search for your city and tell the people in that city you want to help in whatever way possible. Maybe you can bring food, bring drinks, assist the photographers, be a runner, find a printing company to provide prints. There are lots of ways you can help out.
5. Should we do anything else besides pictures?
As we mentioned in the video, we highly recommend going above and beyond with your day. Take canned goods, take books, blankets, play games. Do whatever you feel like you can do to help the people your serving. Photography is just the catalyst. It's up to you to go beyond that.
6. What's going to happen to Help-Portrait after 12.12.09?
Great question. We know that this is just the beginning. Hopefully this will be an annual event. We'll take it one year at a time and see how things go. We also think it's important to note that Help-Portrait doesn't have to be a one time thing or only a Holiday event. We encourage you to do this as often as possible. There's no shortage of needs out there and no shortage of people that need to be loved. So please feel free to do this as much as you feel led to.
Also, remember this isn't about the photos and showing off our pictures. However we would like you to take as many Behind the Scenes photos as possible and also take photos WITH your subjects. We're very interested in seeing these shots. Also we'd love for you to video tape your event. We're not sure exactly what we're going to do yet but if we document everything well, who knows what could come out of this... maybe a short film to inspire people next year, maybe a book of stories... the possibilities are fun to think about.
7. Where can I download the logo?
Check out the very bottom of the website. There are links to download the logo AND a donation letter to give printing companies. Many companies are willing to help you with your Help-Portrait event. The only real cost is getting the photographs printed. We have written and are providing you with a letter to take to any companies in your area that may be willing to donate or help ease the printing costs. Feel free to download this letter and take it with you when you are meeting with people regarding Help-Portrait."
8. What if I have more questions?
First, look around the COMMUNITY SITE - there is a lot of good information to be found there. If you don't see the answer that you are looking for, send an email with your question to info@help-portrait.com.
